Call for International Student Design Competition “Ontological Design in Future Housing and Space”



The competition is organized by the CSBE (Culture & Space in the Built Environment) and Housing networks of the International Association of People-Environment Studies (IAPS) under the framework of Joint International Symposium, 2011 entitled “Continuity and Change of Built Environments – Housing, Culture, and Space across Life Spans”. The competition offers students the opportunity to foster a broad understanding of designers’ contribution to human lives, encouraging students to consider critical social, cultural, and environmental issues facing contemporary civilization. The competition is open to all students in any field of design, technology or behavioral studies-architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, interior design, industrial design, psychology, IT, communication, etc.

CSBE Network Symposia “CITY & HOUSE: Urban Dynamics and Spatial Transformations”

Reminder of the extended deadline for the submission of abstracts for the CSBE Network Symposia focusing on “CITY & HOUSE: Urban Dynamics and Spatial Transformations” under the umbrella of 5th IAPS International Symposium which will be held in Daegu, Korea, from October 10 to 14, 2011.

Deadline: 14th February 2011

Themes:
1. Changing City and Culture Relations in Diverse Local and Global Contexts
This theme aims to discuss conflicting or balanced local and global cultural spaces within cities, and the use of cultural policies in order to understand new forms of mutual interaction and strategy in the use of culture and the development of the city.

2. Home Environments Today: Change, Transformation and Continuity
This theme discusses the concept of “home” in new urban contexts, the importance of “home” as a social concept, it’s realities, problems and results for understanding the given social and cultural interactions of the city.
