what do you see out of your window?

here lays hundreds of apartment blocks, millions of windows, 7 minarets, 4 islands, 5 tv antennas on one island, counted within shortest distance 70 round antennas on apartment roofs, 1 seabus, a shining sea towards sun set, 2 seagulls meeting on a roof getting a rest...a yellow swinging blind and a paperfold flower
no green space, no open space, no street visible, no plan organization. it looks like "fill in the blanks" urbanism in istanbul out of my window. how do you see yours? it looks no architectural taste rather than roofed boxes. do you see "architecture" out of your window in istanbul? or is this "communal architecture" what we need to adopt?

"Calling It Home" by Zeynep Uygun

Calling It Home from Zeynep Uygun on Vimeo.

Ben calismanin mahallelinin agzindan durumu ozetleyen durusunu cok begendim. Sizinle de paylasmak istedim...

Last week during a dinner invitation I have met with Zeynep and after a while the conversation came to her recently shot short movie about Tarlabasi. She interviewed with several neighborhood inhabitants who have shared a long past within the area. I frankly liked the neutrality in the movie where the story of Tarlabasi as a renewal project described through the inhabitants, where we hear their once positive and finally negative reactions. I loved the work Zeynep did and wanted to share with you...
