about demet mutman

d.: d. focuses on cities, urban development strategies, and possibilities of alternative spatial transformations with the use of short-term activations as an architect. She finalized her Ph.D in Istanbul Technical University on alternative models of urban transformation by focusing on short-term activities and designs as spatial catalysts and various potentials for the city. In 2009 she was responsible for the management of Urban Age Award Istanbul and in 2008 as part of the curatorial team “Archilab Europe, Strategic Architecture” she managed the general structure and the mapping section of the exhibition. During the international summer programme at University of Helsinki she with her colleagues proposed a new urban development strategy for the city of Turku for the ECC2012. Between 2006-2008 she worked in Bauhaus Dessau Foundation for an alternative urban reconciliation project for the city of Mostar. In 2007 with A. Mussche she received the special mention award from the Ares International Competition for “Plug In” design.
